LAHAD DATU: July 9, 2026 – Four local men were arrested after police seized over 54 grams of suspected methamphetamine drugs, valued at nearly RM6,000, during Op Tapis and Op Taring Esszone conducted at several locations around this district yesterday.
The integrated operation, carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters (IPD) in collaboration with the 17th Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA), targeted drug abuse and trafficking activities in the area.
During the raids, police discovered the suspected methamphetamine hidden inside cigarette packs and a cross-body bag. Also seized were a motorcycle and mobile phones believed to be linked to the activities.
Initial urine screening tests found that several suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
All suspects, aged between 30 and 52, have been remanded to assist with investigations under Section 39B, Section 12(2), and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police stressed that operations to combat drug abuse and trafficking will continue to be intensified without any compromise, while also warning that stern action will be taken against any individuals involved in such activities.
