35 illegal immigrants detained in Ops Mahir in Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR: Sept 10, 2026 — A total of 35 illegal immigrants (PATI) were detained by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) in an Integrated Enforcement Operation (Ops Mahir) around Cheras yesterday.

The operation, which began at 10.30 am, targeted factory areas identified as employing foreign workers, involving 50 enforcement officers from JIM WPKL, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Of the 43 individuals inspected, 35 foreigners were detained for various immigration offences.

All detainees were men aged between 25 and 48, comprising 17 Indian nationals, 10 Bangladeshis, five Indonesians and three Myanmar nationals.

Offences detected included not possessing valid identification documents, violating pass conditions and overstaying in Malaysia.

Three Form 29 (Summons to Witness) were also issued to Malaysian citizens to assist in investigations.

All detainees were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Detention Depot for investigation and further action.
