KOTA MARUDU: Oct 13, 2026: A fisherman’s plan to pull in his net turned into a frightening moment when he found a 100kg crocodile trapped in it at Kampung Birahan this morning.
The Kota Marudu District Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) squad, led by Lance Corporal (PA) Ahzizi Junaidi and four other ranks, immediately rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call from the public.

The eight-foot crocodile was located using the complainant’s boat and caught alive by a team of Kota Marudu District APM personnel following the emergency call.

In the wake of the incident, APM issued a stern reminder to the maritime community and the public to remain vigilant when carrying out any activities in the waters, especially in areas that are habitats of the dangerous reptile.
Any emergency incident in the district can be reported directly through the standard 999 line or the Kota Marudu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) hotline at 088-661656.
