TAWAU: Sept 2, 2026 – A foreign national has been arrested by police on suspicion of trespassing into a farm at Batu 15, Jalan Apas Balung, as well as for possessing a homemade marble air rifle.
Acting Tawau District Police Chief, Superintendent Wilynton Enchana Watt, said the arrest was made following a report by the farm owner who claimed to have spotted a suspicious-looking man in the area.
According to him, the complainant found the man carrying a homemade marble air rifle and was also believed to have cut the chain on the farm’s gate.
“Acting on the information, a team from the Bandar Sri Indah Police Station conducting crime prevention patrols went to the location before detaining the suspect, who was sitting under a tree within the farm area.
“During initial questioning, the suspect pointed to the location of the homemade marble air rifle, which was black and green in colour and placed on a chair under the tree,” he said.
Police seized the weapon for further investigation. Checks revealed that the suspect did not possess any valid identification documents.
The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
